$2.7 million spent on campaigns in Tuscaloosa area alone

The Tuscaloosa News adds up the finance reports, and finds that it can cost over $400,000 to run for a seat in the state legislature. That's a whole lot of average joes, digging into their pockets for a $10 donation here and there. Or maybe somebody with deeper pockets is involved. We're betting on the latter.
