ABC director opposes privatization

Over the past few decades, politicians have proposed, and occasionally gotten, privatization of every government service from the Post Office to the school system. But privatizing liquor stores? Not in Alabama.

According to the Associated Press, Alabama Beverage Commission administrator Mac Gipson is opposed to turning over the agency’s stores to a private contract – because they’ve brought in $190 million per year in general fund revenue.
